Mad Money DVD Tops Charts!
BURBANK, Calif., May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Anchor Bay Entertainment
announced today that its DVD release of Mad Money is set to debut at the
top of retail charts in its first week of release selling more units than
any other new theatrical release. The film is the first theatrical release
from the company's sister unit, Overture Films.
"Anchor Bay is thrilled with the success of Mad Money," commented Bill
Clark, president of Anchor Bay Entertainment. "The title establishes a
record for Anchor Bay on multiple levels and underscores the combined
performance capabilities of Anchor Bay and Overture. Our sales and
marketing team performed superbly."
"We knew that Mad Money would resonate with consumers and the sales
figures have confirmed it," added Chris McGurk, CEO to both Anchor Bay
Entertainment and Overture Films. "We're in a unique position with Overture
as we have the ability to release across all avenues domestically including
pay television on Starz and Encore channels and home entertainment through
Anchor Bay. Being the No. 1-selling title on week one of release is a
terrific way to launch our distribution in the home entertainment arena."
Starring Academy Award(R) winner Diane Keaton (Annie Hall, Something's
Gotta Give), Oscar(R) nominee Queen Latifah (Chicago, Hairspray) and Katie
Holmes (Pieces of April, Batman Begins), Mad Money is the story of three
ordinary women who decide to do something extraordinary -- rob the Federal
Reserve Bank! Directed by Oscar(R) and Golden Globe(R)-winner Callie Khouri
(screenplay: Thelma & Louise, directing: Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya
Sisterhood) and written by Glenn Gers (Fracture), Mad Money also stars Ted
Danson ("Damages," "Cheers"), Roger Cross (21), Adam Rothenberg
(Tennessee), Stephen Root (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story) and
Christopher McDonald (Thelma & Louise). With bonus features including an
audio commentary by Khouri and a "Makin' Money" behind-the-scenes
featurette, the Mad Money DVD provides a steady flow of laughs.
The DVD of Mad Money was released to retail on May 13, 2008. Next up
for Anchor Bay is the hilarious mockumentary, The Grand and Overture's
critically acclaimed The Visitor.
